The Juniper Berry magazine has a rich tradition in the communities of Middle Village, Maspeth and Elmhurst. It was first published in 1938. The quarterly magazine is an all-volunteer effort and contains articles on crime prevention, neighborhood issues, meeting reports and notices, neighborhood history and photographs, guest articles, editorials and more.
Senator Gianaris is not seeking re-election
Never did anything for our community so no big loss. Hopefully we will get a state senator that will care about our area, like Senator Joe Addabbo . We hated when we got redistricted out of his district. He actually cares about his constituents.
They verified that all the trees will be removed from the west side of the CSX tracks and that they still need to satisfy CSX before anything can proceed in our area.
I thought the original plan was to use the existing rail line. Now they want it adjacent?
Has anybody read and understood the second sentence? Not a single comment/objection about the possibility of ELEVATING the IBX OVER Eliot and Caldwell Aves? Does nobody envision what a monstrosity that would be?
Yup, and increase the overall width to 90ft. Which is about the width of 4 row houses for comparison. The good news is that they do not have federal money and will delay the start. We have roughly 25-30 years before it gets built so we have some time 😂

This stop has to be eliminated. We have a MV stop at metropolitan, enough already.

Please always keep in mind when viewing and discussing rhat NYC needs mass population. They see it as the only way to make life affordable while making it expensive.

There needs to be a quality of life analysis so they will see how much damage will be done to our community. Then we need to fight.
I knew they would do this I kept asking them that question and they said it would be minimal a bunch of liars.
The people of our community are being thrown around like garbage.
The MTA released a heavily redacted document that details the winning bid for the IBX. It seems to indicate widespread condemnation in our area as well as a flood of development but no information about the tunnel under All Faiths Cemetery. People. Please, wrap your mind around this salient and yet little discussed fact. The purpose of a system is what it does, not what it's declared to do. The MTA is not, I repeat NOT a transportation agency. It's purpose is to funnel government revenues into the hands of politicians and their corporate alliances. Period. This is the underlying reasoning behind why this is light rail and not part of the general subway system. Once you understand this, all the rest starts to make sense.
Toot, toot..."urban renewal" adjacency demolition with the low/middle income worker demographic who will be pushed out-displaced by developers drooling to build-baby-build.

I don't even want to know anymore because they're going to do what they want no matter how we complain, protest, make calls. Its all about making a ton of money with no respect for the people who live here. Very sad. You work your whole life, do everything you're supposed to, you get old and they have no use for you.
