FINALLY, A NEIGHBORHOOD PHYSICIAN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Dr. Hetal Amin, a family physician from Queens, NY is bringing her medical practice back home to Maspeth, Queens. Dr. Amin is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Family Physicians and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the premiere organizations of family doctors. Dr. Amin completed her Family Practice residency training at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in 2001. For the past several years, Dr. Amin has been working as the family physician in a multi-specialty ambulatory facility and nursing home in Jamaica Estates.

A resident of Middle Village, Dr. Amin has made a conscious decision to practice in her community. The old-fashioned family doctor working in her neighborhood is a rarity today, but Dr. Amin is proud to have that type of practice. I have always wanted to practice in the neighborhood I live in. Living in the same community as my patients offers them something more. We understand each other, and we all benefit tremendously. I am grateful to have this exciting opportunity.

Family physicians are specialists who are especially trained to treat both males and females of all ages. Their unique education allows them to care for the whole family, from newborns to the elderly. The specialty of family practice combines the latest in medical technologies with a long tradition of caring and service. Family physicians evaluate and treat an individual as a whole person, taking into account all the factors that can affect health and well-being- genetics, family history, diet, prevention, mental health, and chronic disease management.

Primary care highlights a wide range of issues in family medicine, including cardiology, dermatology, neurology, pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology, women's health, rheumatology, endocrinology, infectious disease, hematology, renal disease, psychiatry, pediatrics and geriatrics.

The patient is justly demanding a more personal, individualized patient-doctor relationship from today's healthcare system. In most offices, patients feel they spend more time in the waiting room than time spent with the doctor. With today's busy family lifestyle, attention needs to be focused more on personal, humane healthcare that values a patient's needs and concerns. Also, I strongly feel that physicians should emphasize more on preventative medicine and educating our patients about hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, diet, and exercise so we can avoid the suffering caused by debilitating diseases.

Dr. Amin treats adults, seniors, infants, children, and offers women's health services for the entire family. At her office, she performs routine check-ups, diagnostic tests, cancer screening, immunizations, and physical examinations for school, college, summer camps, and more. She accepts Medicare, HMO's, and most other insurances. The office is open during late evening hours, mornings, and every Saturday to provide the flexibility needed by the working family. The medical office is a state of the art, new facility with multiple specialists who provide services right there so it's a comprehensive, one-stop healthcare for the whole family.
