BERRY BITS: MV 5th grader takes center stage in film

Middle Village 10-year old Olivia Panepinto with actor Paul Sorvino

The recent film release Once Upon a Time in Queens was shot in Middle Village, Long Island City and Ridgewood, at many familiar venues including Juniper Valley Park and Village Gourmet Deli. The film stars Paul Sorvino as an ailing mafia don who was released from federal prison after 20 years. His character, 'Mr. Joe' Scoleri, comes back home to live with his daughter, Rita, played by Renee Props. Joe also tries to reconnect with a neighbor, Bobby, played by Michael Rapaport. He finds that nothing is the same as it was before he went away and has problems adjusting to his newfound freedom. Bobby's daughter is played by Middle Village 10-year old Olivia Panepinto, who really knocks it out of the park. Chazz Palminteri also appears in the film. You can watch the movie on DVD, iTunes, Netflix or Amazon Instant Video.
