In 2006, then-Department of Transportation Commissioner Iris Weinshall said her agency was committed to solving the problem of truck traffic on Grand Avenue, and would have something finalized by that summer. Two years later, a DOT spokesperson said the agency is working on a plan but adds that more studies are needed.
Thompson examining ways to compensate for 2007 flooding
New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. is probing ways to compensate many New Yorkers affected by last year’s massive storm-triggered floods in April, July and August, and has offered to extend the deadlines for claimants to sue with the expectation of resolving the claims before litigation becomes necessary.

Enforcement has begun of Section 397-A of the New York State General Business Law, a.k.a the "Lawn Litter" Law, which allows property owners to post a sign in a visible area in front of their homes to let advertisers know not to place unsolicited advertising material on their property.
On July 3rd of this month at 59-22 69th Lane in Maspeth at 2:45am I was awoken to the sounds of my truck alarm going off. I went downstairs to deactivate my alarm, and to look at my vehicle to find all the wheels in my truck gone and my truck balancing on two cinder blocks. All of this happening only two houses down from mine.
The Juniper Park Civic Association (JPCA) is today claiming victory over notorious developer, Tommy Huang, (destroyer of the officially landmarked RKO Keith’s Theater of Flushing) who illegally constructed a house at 57-39 Mazeau Street in Maspeth in 2006. He has now removed the top story and a section on the side of the house that encroached on the lot next door.

All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village has stepped up to the plate in the battle to save neighboring Maspeth’s historic St. Saviour’s Church. They have agreed to receive the building as long as funds are raised for the move.
JUNIPER CIVIC CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO BLOOMBERG-PARKSIDE CONNECTION
The Juniper Park Civic Association is calling for an investigation into the connection between the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit and the Parkside Group lobbying firm after this Sunday’s published report by New York Magazine which stated that former CAU Commissioner Patrick Brennan, now a partner in the Parkside Group, has been working on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign “for most of the past year”.
